     FAQs ( Freequently Asked Questions)

Below are many questions that we frequently receive here at Professional Pest Management Services regarding Cockroach Control, Termite Control, Bedbugs, Rodent Control  and  General pest control (including ant control, spider control, flea control etc.)

If you have any additional questions, please contact us by calling our Customer Care No. +91 99488 23360 or submit an online pest control service request with your question.

Q:  How often should I have my house inspected for pests?

A: An annual inspection is the safest way to detect, treat and prevent pests from gaining control. If, however, you think you have a pest problem now, don't wait. Call us right away so we can get our professionally trained Pest Manager onsite as soon as possible.

Q:  We have a new home. Am I right that pests won't bother us?
A: Pests don't discriminate between new or existing properties. Any home is a good home for pests-and that includes in urban and rural areas.

Q:  I haven't seen any pests at my home so, can I assume I don't have a problem?
A:  Never assume when it comes to pests. Some are nocturnal so you likely won't see them scurrying about. Some are 'hidden invaders' preferring to hide in dark, damp spots-again you may not see them. This doesn't mean they haven't settled into your property, however. While you may not spot the pest itself you can often detect their presence through smells, their droppings and even the sounds they make. Or you may see evidence of the damage they've caused, such as piles of dust or dirt or holes in material.

Q:  Why should I choose PPMS (Professional Pest Management Services) Why should I hire PPMS when I could try to do it myself?
A: Quite a few customers call us in frustration after they have already wasted time and money buying and applying over the counter products to control their Cockroaches,  ants, spiders, flea or other general pest problems. PPMS will solve your problem efficiently without you having to buy, apply or store pesticides. Home owners very often over apply pesticides, resulting in unnecessary personal exposure, or potential environmental harm.  PPMS also offer Warranty on Services.  If your pest problem persists within warranty period after initial treatment, we will come back for additional service at no additional cost to you.

Q:  What type of materials do you use and how toxic are they?

A:  Most of the pesticides we use are classified in "Category III" - the lowest in toxicity. Additionally, our goal is to expose only pests to pesticides by carefully following all of the manufacturer's instructions as well as all rules and regulations from our licensing agencies. Even relatively non-toxic materials still require proper safety precautions.

Q:  What type of treatment do you apply?

A: This depends on the type of pest and the severity of the problem. Often more than one type of treatment is needed. We use a range of targeted mist sprays, gels, pastes, dusts and/or baits, depending on the situation at hand.

Q:  Does the treatment affect humans & Pets?
A:  The sprays and other treatments PPMS uses do not affect humans. It's important, however, to ensure you follow the advice of our Pest Manger about when you and your pets re-enter your property after treatment-as an extra precaution only. Indeed, the chemicals we use are registered for use in hospitals, schools and public places. We advise on certain precautions, regardless, believing it's better to be safe than sorry.

Q:  Is it safe to stay on the property while you are treating it for pests?
A: Whether you remain on site while we work is a matter of the type of pest we're treating, the type of treatment we're using and how we need to apply that treatment.   For cockroaches we apply gel and use an internal spray and recommend that you need not to vacate the property.  For Termite treatment we advise Old people, children below 2 years and anyone who has allergies or asthma to stay away from the property  while the treatment dries and until your home has been ventilated for a couple of days (Preferably overnight) after the treatment. This is precautionary, and it makes perfect sense anyway. We also advise that pregnant women stay away. Again, this is precautionary and, again, it makes perfect sense.

Q:  What if I touch an area that has been sprayed?
A: You should avoid any treated areas until dry. That is the minimum precaution for virtually all pesticides. If you accidentally touch a moist deposit or are otherwise exposed to a diluted pesticide, wash the exposed skin with soap and water. Remember that most of the common materials that we apply have been highly diluted and should not cause any ill effects. Consult the specific pesticide label for any further recommendations.

Q:  How should I prepare for a pest treatment?
A: We'll let you know when you make a booking since every case is different. However you may be asked to do a few things, depending on whether we're working inside or outside or both.
If we're working inside it's wise to, before we arrive: Move small articles off the ground, like clothing, magazines and toys.  Clear all food items from bench and table tops. Provide good access along skirtings for Termite Treatment. Cover fish tanks and take your pets away for a few hours.
If we're working outside, you may need to:
Move piles of wood stacked up against the walls of the house, Mow the lawn. If a spider treatment doesn’t remove the cobwebs. Remove stored goods from the subfloor.

Q:  Do I need to empty my kitchen cupboards before you inspect?
A:  No. It's not necessary to empty cupboards as we apply our treatment to areas where pests nest or harbor (cracks, crevices and hinges). No liquid sprays are applied to these areas.

Q: When you come to spray my house how long will it take?
A: It depends on the type of pest and many other factors. A routine initial service for Cockroaches, for example, will often take less than an hour, and still control the problem for several months. And Termite Treatment will often take 4-5 hours.   Rodent problems may require several service visits and cultural control measures as well.

Q:  Will any gel or paste you apply inside my kitchen contaminate my food?
No it won't. We only apply gel or paste to areas where insects congregate or harbor, like cracks, crevices or hinges.

Q:  Will I see cockroaches, spiders or ants after the treatment?
A: It's possible that you will. These pests may wander in from outside. However, chances are that they will have crossed treated areas to get into your home and will die shortly after that. It's important not to call our Pest Manager straight away if you still detect pests as it could take up to a few days for the treatment to take full effect. Our Pest Manager will discuss this with you when on site.

Q:  Why does it take more than one treatment for fleas, ticks and bed bugs?
A:  Fleas, ticks and bed bugs have different life cycles than other targeted species.  During certain phases of their life cycle they do not succumb to treatments, so we have to “catch” them between these dormant cycles in order to attain management.

Q:  How often do I need a termite inspection at my home?
A:  Every 2 to 4 years depending on age and condition of home. Many companies sell annual inspections, but this is really more than most people need in our area

Q: My neighbor had a termite treatment done on their home. Do I have anything to be concerned about?
A:  You should have your home inspected to be sure you do not have a termite infestation in your home. Termites are subterranean (they have colonies in the ground) and tend to be widespread in some areas but not others. If your neighbor has termites it means they are present in the soil where you live and you have a good reason to be concerned.

Q:  How do you get rid of termites?
A:  There are several different techniques that we use to eliminate termites from a structure. It will be necessary to inspect the house first to determine the best method for your particular situation. There is no charge for the inspection and estimate.

Q : How much does it cost to get rid of a bad pest problem?
A: This depends on the type of pest, how long the pests have inhabited your property and how much damage they've caused. PPMS an initial assessment of the situation and then discusses a price with you. The ultimate aim is to manage the problem based on need. So one treatment might be enough or we might need to develop a program.

Q:  Why do I need to have my home inspected before you can give me a price?
A:   No two homes, landscapes or pest problems are exactly alike and neither are their treatments. That’s why we thoroughly inspect your home inside and outside. We then design a program customized for your situation without any pricing surprises.

Q:  Do you guarantee your work?
A:  Yes, all of our works comes with a full warranty. If you should continue to have concerns after our initial service, we will return at no additional charge to rectify any remaining problem.  We give Cockroaches a 6 months warranty and for Termites 5 Years Service warranty for Individual house and 3 Years for flat in a apartment.

Q:  I’m renovating. When is it best to do the pest control?
A:  We suggest that the pest control is done after all trades people have completed their jobs (painting, carpet laying, landscaping and final clean up). Preferably one or two days prior to moving in.
